Profile
of the artist Keith Elliott Since I was fifteen faith has played a large part in my life. There have been many changes and ups and downs but Jesus has remained constant. For me art is a bit like faith, a journey into what is known but unseen; a blank canvas, a first tentative step, discovering the images, the textures, the emotions and then having the courage to rest and know that this is. I have painted for most of my life and am increasingly fascinated by colour, texture and movement, bringing a variety of mediums together. In my art I seek to explore and communicate human emotions in a variety of images. I find myself continually being stimulated by the ever-changing landscapes and skyscapes of our countryside it’s a challenge to try and capture a north Devon Sunset compared to that over the East Midland or the fens. I have exhibited widely, holding exhibitions in many sorts of venues such as the Queens theatre Gallery in Barnstaple and the Swanwick conference Centre Derbyshire, Exeter, and a number of hotels in North Devon, Work has also been exhibited in Auckland, Hamilton and Dunedin, New Zealand. Most recently in September 2009, I co held an exhibition in Leicester Cathedral in September with a local Leicestershire artist. I often deliberately withheld the titles of each piece of work because I want you the viewer to engage in the process and name what you feel and see. I believe that art is something that should not only be seen but must evoke a response from deep within! There is no right or wrong, it’s about the now, this moment in time and space
